Can a Potted Garden by Winterized? - clay garden pots

I have several perennial plants (roses, etc.) in clay pots on a rooftop. How can I best protect against the Canadian winter? Should I inwardly or heavy foil and leave it outside near the house of "heat"? Or is there something else I could / should I do?

The potted plants in winter rarely suriv no matter how well packaged. Since the roots in pots, which are not under the earth where the ground temperature stays warm and is frequently cut off by snow. The roots of potted plants AFTE freeze a week or more and less than 32 degrees. Bring the inside may help. I bring in miniature roses, but has been severely curtailed. The transition from the outside often emphasizes the size of the plant allows the plant to adapt to this new environment.

Because it is sensitive plants, or should be in there anyway. Do not isolate plastic, think of the plants into the American way, that would be - if u do not leave anything outside (especially in winter from Canada), you must use the old plates or something.
